Autumn provides many opportunities to get to know the nature around you. From wildlife migrations, to fall fungi, to the colors and changes that occur as plants prepare to slumber, this nature walk will highlight some of the natural processes that make this season so spectacular. We'll proceed at the speed of "mosey," focusing on quality over quantity.
Copies of Lexa's richly illustrated book, The Everyday Naturalist: How to Identify Animals, Plants, and Fungi Wherever You Go, will be available for purchase.NOTE: Participants will take a short hike through uneven terrain. Bring sturdy shoes and water.
Rebecca Lexa, MA, OMN, WFR has made it her goal to spend as much time as possible connecting people to the natural world. With a background in Ecopsychology, she is additionally certified as an Oregon Master Naturalist and Wilderness First Responder. An enthusiastic and approachable science communicator, her teaching and speaking engagements in the Pacific Northwest and beyond have reached thousands of everyday naturalists of all ages, and her guided tours offer deeper hands-on experience with local ecology.
Parking is limited. Carpooling recommended. Certain areas of PowellsWood are accessible by stairs and may involve uneven surfaces. The hiking trails can be particularly challenging for people with mobility concerns.
